How prices are worked out
For each tool, the calculator tries every paid plan, adds the add-ons the setup needs (extra messages, extra chatbots, badge removal) at the prices on the vendor's pricing page, and keeps the cheapest total.
If a tool doesn't sell an add-on, only plans that already include it count. A setup that no plan can cover shows as “Doesn't fit”.
Messages, credits and queries aren't the same
Vendors count usage differently. AgenBase counts each AI reply. Chatbase and DocsBot count credits, which can cost more than one per message on larger AI models. CustomGPT.ai counts queries. The calculator treats one message as one unit everywhere, which favors vendors whose credits stretch further, so the real gap is often bigger.
What else to check before you choose
Price is one line of the decision. Also look at:
- Whether answers show their sources, so you can check them.
- Built-in lead capture and bookings, versus paying for extra tools.
- Integrations you need today, such as an API, Zapier or WhatsApp.
- How many team members are included.
Questions
How much does an AI chatbot cost per month?
Most website chatbot tools charge between $0 and $150 a month for a small business setup, and several hundred for high volumes. The calculator shows the exact figure for your messages and chatbots.
Where do the competitor prices come from?
From each vendor's public pricing page, on the date shown under the results. Prices change, so check their page before you buy.
Why aren't Tidio and Intercom in the calculator?
They price differently (per conversation, per seat or per resolution), so a per-message comparison wouldn't be fair. Our comparison pages explain their pricing instead.
