How to add an AI chatbot to your Squarespace site

Squarespace's code injection adds a line of code to every page. Paste the AgenBase snippet into the footer and your chatbot is live across the site.

About 10 minutes · No coding beyond pasting one line

Before you start: Code injection is only available on Squarespace plans that include it (Core and above on current plans).

Step by step

  1. 1

    Create your chatbot

Sign up to AgenBase, add your pages and documents, test it and click Go live.

  2. 2

    Copy your snippet

On the chatbot's Install tab, copy the script tag.

  3. 3

    Open code injection

In your site's panel, go to Settings → Developer tools → Code injection (on older layouts: Settings → Advanced → Code injection).

  4. 4

    Paste into Footer and save

Paste the snippet into the Footer box and click Save. It applies to every page.

Check it works

Open your site in a private window. The chat button appears in the bottom corner.

Troubleshooting and questions

I installed it but nothing appears

The chat bubble only shows once the chatbot is live. Open the chatbot in AgenBase, click Go live, then reload your site. Ad blockers can also hide chat widgets, so try a private window.

I can't find code injection

Your plan may not include it. Squarespace shows an upgrade prompt on that page if so.

It shows on one domain but not another

If you set allowed domains on the chatbot's Install tab, the widget only loads on those domains and their subdomains. Add every domain your site uses, or leave the list empty.

What does it cost?

AgenBase is free for 50 messages a month, with no credit card. Paid plans start at $29 a month for 1,500 messages and 3 chatbots.
