How to add the markup to your page
Copy the JSON-LD and paste it into the page that shows the same questions and answers, anywhere in the HTML (the head or the end of the body both work). The questions and answers must be visible on that page: structured data has to describe what readers can see.
On WordPress, a header and footer plugin or your SEO plugin's schema settings can hold it. On Shopify, Webflow, Wix and Squarespace, use the page's custom code area.
Will it give me FAQ rich results in Google?
Since 2023, Google shows FAQ rich results mainly for well-known government and health websites, so most sites won't see the expandable questions under their result. The markup is still valid and helps search engines and AI assistants understand your page, and it costs nothing to add.
Writing questions people actually ask
Good FAQs come from real questions, not from what you wish people asked:
- Use your inbox, chat logs and sales calls as the source.
- Write questions the way customers phrase them, in their words.
- Answer in the first sentence, then add the detail.
- Keep one topic per question, and each question once.
Questions
What is FAQ schema?
It's structured data (schema.org's FAQPage type, usually written as JSON-LD) that tells search engines which parts of a page are questions and which are their answers.
Is the generated JSON-LD valid?
Yes. It follows schema.org's FAQPage format with Question and Answer items. You can check it with Google's Rich Results Test or the Schema Markup Validator.
Can I use HTML in the answers?
This tool keeps answers as plain text so the markup stays valid everywhere. Line breaks become <br> in the HTML version.
Is anything I type stored?
No. The generator runs in your browser and nothing is sent to a server.
