What is a chatbot knowledge base?

A knowledge base for an AI chatbot or agent is the collection of content it answers from, such as website pages, documents, FAQs, price lists and policies.

Knowledge base, explained

The quality of the answers depends more on the knowledge base than on the AI model. If the facts aren't in it, the agent can't give them.

A good knowledge base covers what customers actually ask: prices, hours, shipping, returns, services, policies and how-tos. Unanswered-question reports show what's missing.

Keep it current: re-import pages that change, remove outdated documents, and connect live data like spreadsheets for prices or stock.

In AgenBase

Each AgenBase agent has its own knowledge: files (PDF, TXT, Markdown, CSV, HTML), pasted text, web pages, whole websites, audio on paid plans, and live Google Sheets. On paid plans, analytics list the questions it couldn't answer, so you know what to add.

Questions, answered.

How big can a chatbot knowledge base be?

It depends on the tool. AgenBase allows 1 MB of text per agent on Free, 15 MB on Pro and 20 MB on Business.

Do I have to retrain after updating content?

No. Edit a text snippet or Q&A, or read a changed page again, and the agent uses the new version right away; connected Google Sheets update on their own.
